The Story

It all started when our mom, Shirley Lupe, was diagnosed with Stage III Breast Cancer in February 2001.  Her battle entailed a mastectomy, brain surgery, hip surgery and numerous rounds of testing, radiation and chemotherapy.

Shirley Lupe was the strongest woman we knew, a remarkable wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. We are so proud to be the family of such an amazing individual, she has created a loving, caring, family. She raised three successful and strong daughters, and supported her wonderful husband for the past 38 years. She will be missed by us all, but never forgotten.

Her battle has been especially draining emotionally, physically and financially...so we decided to try to do something to help out.

We are taking donations to help with the medical expenses that our parent's have incurred. With every $25 donation you get your choice of a women's babydoll tee, unisex t-shirt, a baseball cap or a lucky dog. The apparel is marked with our mantra, "cancer sucks".

We know our story is not unique, there are many moms, dads, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, and friends out there "helping the fight" just as we are. For everyone involved,

Good Luck, and Thank You,
Debbie, Gabrielle, Kristin and Jordan

Here’s a quick overview of her journey:
pink ribbon FEBRUARY 2001 - Diagnosed with Stage III breast cancer - initial rounds of chemotherapy, underwent mastectomy, additional radiation and chemotherapy
pink ribbon EARLY 2003 - Officially in remission from breast cancer
pink ribbon JULY 2004 - Began procedures for unsuccessful reconstructive surgery
pink ribbon NOVEMBER 2004 - After 18 months of remission the cancer resurfaced in the bones and her cancer markers skyrocketed off the charts. The doctors did not expect the chemo to work this time, however she was a warrior and sent the cancer back into remission for about 6 months.
pink ribbon JUNE 2005 - Mom officially goes into remission from breast cancer (secondary bone cancer).
pink ribbon NOVEMBER 2005 - The cancer has become active in the bones again. Back on chemotherapy to keep it in check.
pink ribbon DECEMBER 26, 2005 - while walking through the grocery...mom’s vision started acting up.
pink ribbon JANUARY 3, 2006 - she underwent brain surgery to remove a tumor that had invaded a sinus and was putting pressure on the optical nerve. After a successful surgery and months of radiation mom was feeling better.
pink ribbon JUNE 7, 2006 - Double hip surgery. Metal rods inserted into the center of her femurs and secured with pins into her hips. Mom's bones have becomes so brittle that they are at the point of fracture. This was a preventative surgery, because the bones were ready to break and doing the surgery after a break, would have been far worse and she probably wouldn't have walked again.
pink ribbon SEPTEMBER 2006 - During a PETSCAN, six spots show up on the liver. The cancer has spread again. Switching to a new chemotherapy treatment.
pink ribbon DECEMBER 28, 2006 - The spots in the liver are not visible during her last scan. Mom gets a couple month reprieve from chemo.
pink ribbon EARLY 2007 - Cancer markers are on the rise, undergoing weekly chemo treatments.
pink ribbon JUNE 10, 2007 - Found out nothing more could be done to fight the cancer. The liver and lungs were infected. Saw her granddaughter Jordan graduate from high school.
pink ribbon JULY 2007 - Undergoing radiation on her spine and neck to help eleviate the pain.
pink ribbon AUGUST 30, 2007 - Heard about Jordan's first day of college. Helped plan Jeff & Kristin's wedding.
pink ribbon SEPTEMBER 9, 2007 - after 6 years of fighting, our mom passed away.
